Hello, my name is Sierra! Welcome to Heart of the Homestead!
Heart of the Homestead was created for you as a woman because as women we are the heart and center of our homes. My goal is to create a place of inspiration and encouragement for women that are interested in cultivating simplicity and intentionality in their lives and the lives of their family.
What you can expect
If you are interested in raising well-rounded children, mastering the logistics of your home, homeschooling, and bringing it “back to the land” by growing your own produce and raising livestock, then you will feel right at home here. You will find new posts throughout the week as you follow me through life on the Homestead. Post topics will include a range of inspiring subjects such as; homeschool routines and recommendations, recipes and tutorials on preparing wholesome dishes for your family, gardening advice and tips to implement into your own garden space, homestead animal care to get you on the right track to providing quality resources for your home, and inside peaks into the day to day life on the Nicolls Homestead.
We all start somewhere…
I came to this way of life myself as a young mother that had no idea what she was doing. I had no clue how to take care of a home, raise a child, or keep a house plant alive, let alone a full garden. But I knew that I wanted more for my family than what I saw in the world around me. The road to “The Simple Life” is a never ending and imperfect one, and I don’t claim to have all the answers, but come along with me as we learn, make mistakes, grow, and master each undertaking.
I am a mother to 3 beautiful children ages 5 and under. I am married to the love of my life and together we operate a homestead in the wilderness of Northern Idaho (think breathtaking mountains, not potatoes). I look forward to getting to know you!
