There is something in a name that tells a lot about a person.
For example, my name, Sierra, means “a higher place”.
I have found that this name translates well into my life because my Heavenly Father is constantly in the process of taking me to a higher place in one area of my life or another.
Since the day I married my husband, my life has been a series of learning moments. The Lord has tested me and challenged me at every turn seemingly forming me into the woman he would have me to be.
But who is the woman he would have me to me?
Believe it or not, this answer is the same for all women…
A Woman who Fears the Lord.
But what does that look like?
Proverbs 31 tells us that a woman who fears the Lord is a woman of virtue.
(Synonyms of the word “virtuous” include:
righteous, good, pure, moral, ethical, upright, upstanding, high-minded, principled, exemplary.)
I know many of you have read that chapter in Proverbs thinking, “there is no way I could ever be that woman!”.
I know, because I have been there too. In my early adulthood, I was tired, unmotivated, unorganized, and if I’m honest… selfish; struggling just to survive each day. I was nowhere close to being the woman of strength, dignity, and honor depicted so elegantly in that chapter.
The Good news is… Neither I nor you are the ones who make this change happen!
If there is one thing I have learned in the past 8 years of married life, it is that if you open yourself up to the change, God is faithful to create that change in you, bringing you to your fullest potential.
There are 9 Areas the Lord Desires to Bring us to “a higher Place” in (as portrayed in Proverbs 31).
Health, and the health of our families
Service to others
My hope behind creating Heart of the Homestead is:
That with the experience and knowledge The Lord has, and continues, to impart in me, I might inspire and encourage women in each of these areas of life.
He has an abundant life for all of us!
The Question is, are you ready to move forward in it?
